As some of you may know, I’m working on a new book that will hopefully be in stores early next year. I’m super excited about it, as it deals largely with some of my greatest obsessions: Pop culture, celebrities, and the lure of the weekly tabloids.
Here’s the official description:
Author of MWF SEEKING BFF, Rachel Bertsche’s JENNIFER, GWYNETH AND ME: The Pursuit of a More Perfect Existence, One Celebrity at a Time, about the author’s efforts to improve her life by emulating the aspects of A-list stars’ lives that she (to say nothing of our celebrity-obsessed culture) most admires, such as Jennifer Aniston’s workout regime, Gwyneth Paltrow’s kitchen, and Tina Fey’s work ethic, to Jennifer Smith for Ballantine Trade Paperbacks, by Kari Stuart at ICM (world).
As I’ve been writing–and taking on these various megastar lifestyles–I’ve realized that sometimes the aspects of a celebrity’s life that we think we want, isn’t really something we’d choose for ourselves when it comes down to it.
Still, I’m curious what you all think. If you could make over just one aspect of your life to be just like a certain celebrity’s, what would it be? Want Jennifer Aniston’s abs? The Garner-Affleck seemingly perfect marriage? Wish you could go all Julia and become totally zen? Please chime in on my poll, and feel free to write-in your own answers in the comments if none of these appeal to you.

The thing I would want most is a person to tailor all my clothes for me! Then I could choose anything I wanted to wear and it would magically fit me perfectly.
All of the above?
Gwen Stefani’s all around package – fitness, love, family, and talent!
I agree with this one, for sure…I always felt a kinship..our kids are days apart in age (and I named my first one after her husband).
I’d choose Jennifer Garner. From an (obviously) outsiders perspective, she seems to balance celebrity, children and health with remarkable aplomb.
All of the above.
Taylor Swift’s dating life.. and ofcourse Kate Middleton’s husband.. does that count?
He’s not on your list buuuuut I would love Tim Tebows integrity…..and his body, good looks, and skills :).
My first instinct was Jennifer Garner. When you see her out she looks like a regular mom/wife and I totally admire that and think she is awesome for not succumbing to the Hollywood culture of losing all the baby weight in 2 weeks and stepping out in couture every day. However, I think finding that confidence in yourself and putting your family and children ahead of more shallow endeavors is something most people can achieve in their own lives and marriages. So if I’m using up a magic wish, it’s SJP’s fashion and style because that is something I can’t do on my own!
I would want to be funny and sweet like Mindy Kaling.
I voted for Jennifer Aniston, but I would really like the whole life of Gwyneth Paltrow. It just seems so stylish and fun. I secretly have dreams that I’m friends with her and my husband and I double date with she & Chris. It’s pathetic.
Fun poll and the book sounds like a great read! I’ve always been envious of Jennifer Aniston….for her hair alone! She makes casual look so easy. I look forward to hearing more about this book. Congrats!
What an interesting poll and idea for a book!
I answered Jennifer Garner’s marriage – to me, that was the one selection that seemed to have a lasting, positive and healthy aspect. I also am a huge fan of Jennifer (Alias, hello!) and am jealous of her marriage to Ben Affleck, but who isn’t?
In all seriousness, out of all those choices, I felt Jennifer’s marriage seemed to provide more than the other choices. She appears so balanced in a world where it’s too easy to make wrong decisions; she also seems to understand what’s important: her family.
It was a tough call though – Tina Fey is also a positive influence.
Oy, that’s impossible. ALL OF THE ABOVE.
Jennifer Lawrence! She seems to always have fun no matter what she’s doing.
I know he’s not on the list, but I would want Prince’s lifestyle. Oh to be wildly talented and so eccentric that you eat crackers from your pocket during interviews. I think there’s glory in being such an off the wall individual and have the world respect your talent, event if you’re basically insane and wear clothes from the children’s section of Nordstrom’s.
