This crazy blizzard has taken down my Internet (and TV!) so I apologize for the lack of blog post. (I’m writing this one from my phone.)
Hopefully I’ll be back up and running tomorrow but in the meantime, I’m thinking that this kind of weather is great for friend-making. Throw on a snowsuit and some boots and whoever else is playing out in the streets is your new BFF. Oh, Mother Nature. Just bringing people together all over the place.
Thoughts?
Stay warm and safe Rachel!
Hadn’t thought of it that way! Love the positive attitude. You are the Mr. Miyagi of friend making. No friend-making opportunity is lost on you! 🙂
I did see a young couple stop their car in the middle of the street at 5:45am and waltz around their car in the snow. It was a pretty cool moment.
I would’ve responded to this sooner but yeah, no power or internet for me all day. Today was a great day for friending though, everyone was so nice! Something about trudging down the middle of the street in almost 2 feet of snow really makes people friendly.
In the past, snowfall has provided the opportunity for my husband and I to get to know our neighbors. Sure, you smile and nod to the neighbors as you’re checking the mail, or coming and going, but how often do you have conversations? When we’re all outside together, digging out our cars, complaining to each other about the cold and the amount of snow and the back-breaking work that is shoveling, and it creates a bonding experience. People are friendlier; we’re all in this together, after all.
